Frequently Asked Questions

Who Can Call the Crisis Line?

Anyone can call the crisis line, you do not need to be in crisis to call.

Are Calls Confidential?

Yes. Anything discussed during a crisis line call stays between you and the Centre. However, there are some legal limits to what we can keep confidential. Confidentiality will need to be broken when we hear of:

  • Threats of harm against yourself
  • Threats of harm against someone else
  • Harm against someone under the age of 16
  • Harm against a vulnerable adult

Why Is Your Name So Long?

We are a service available to anyone in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are a “sexual assault crisis centre” because we provide support to people in crisis AND we are a “prevention centre” because we work to prevent sexual assault through our outreach, education and awareness-raising work. The title says it all!
